Now is the time to really pay attention to what type of sunscreen you are putting on your face. Most sunscreens now say “broad spectrum” so let’s move on from that. What you want on your face is a physical sunscreen, not a chemical sunscreen. A quick way to tell the difference is, the list of active ingredients on a chemical sunscreen will have about 4 or 5 and won’t include Zinc or Titanium. The active ingredients in a physical sunscreen will have Zinc and/or Titanium and maybe an ingredient that will help make the product water resistant and that’s about it. Zinc and Titanium are “blockers” and the suns rays actually reflect off the skin. They also slow down the aging process. Where are chemical sunscreens don’t. If you search pretty hard, you can find a very small amount of sunscreens over the counter that are physical. I have never seen a sunscreen body spray with Zinc over the counter. I carry Elta MD, SkinCeuticals, SkinMedica and Jane Iredale makeup which only have physical sunscreens in their line. Elta MD has a spray sunscreen with Zinc. The bottom line is using sunscreen is the number one thing to slow down the aging process. If out don’t do another thing to your skin, do that–apply everyday under your makeup and reapply through out the day if you are going to be out at all and that includes driving. Jane Iredale makeup makes a fabulous physical sunscreen that is called Powder Me SPF. It is like reapplying your makeup. So simple and it won’t mess up your makeup. I carry 3 of the colors-Translucent, Tanned, and Golden. Oh, and don’t forget your lips. We have Jane Iredale Lip Drink in 4 colors. This is like a super charged chapstick, if you will. All of the Lip drinks have Titanium so this these are also a physical sunscreen….so there you go–physical is a BIG DEAL!!
