Liposuction for Men

Liposuction offers long-lasting fat reduction and body contouring for men who are close to their aesthetic appearance, but may be having trouble removing those lingering areas of bulge. Liposuction is a great solution for common problem areas that are resistant to diet and exercise such as the mid-section, arms, chest, abdomen, and double chin.

Commonly Addressed Areas

  • Upper/lower abdomen
  • Upper/lower back
  • Waist/Love handles
  • Buttocks
  • Arms
  • Thighs
  • Male breasts

The Liposuction Procedure: What to Expect

Liposuction is not a surgery, but it is minimally invasive. Depending on how much fat you’re having removed, the procedure can be done under general or local anesthesia. Dr. Stephens will go over the type of anesthesia to be used during your consultation.

He will also take you step-by-step through what you can expect during liposuction. In general, the procedure requires Dr. Stephens to make a small incision in the area where fat is being removed. He will insert a cannula (a long, thin tube) into the incision to break up the fat and remove it. The fat is suctioned out of the body through the cannula’s tubing.

We take every necessary step to ensure your liposuction procedure is as comfortable for you as possible. The length of time it will take will be determined by how much fat is being removed. This can also be discussed during your consultation with Dr. Stephens.

Recovery After Liposuction

You can expect to wear a compression garment after liposuction for about three weeks. This helps with swelling and overall healing. It takes approximately one week for bruising and swelling to subside, and this is usually how long patients will need off work. Exercise can normally be continued in 10 days, but it’s important to wait until we clear you after checking your progress. All residual swelling should be gone at 3-6 months.

Results

Early liposuction results begin to appear very shortly after the procedure and will continue to look better and better over the following weeks and months.

It may take several months for results to be completely finalized. In addition, the small scars will fade over time until they are nearly invisible.

To maintain your liposuction results, it’s important to stick to a healthy lifestyle with a balanced diet and a regular exercise regimen.

  • Are at or near their goal weight
