As we age, volume is lost in the cheeks. This can result in a deflated look and the development of wrinkles or lines around the mouth. Cheek fillers help restore a youthful, smoother shape for the face.

CHEEK Filler TREATMENTS

CHEEK FILLER JUST FOR YOU

More and more individuals are realizing they want a more contoured look for their face, which often involves enhancing the cheekbones. In fact, 70% of our facial beauty is represented by our cheekbones. Fillers for the mid-face, or “cheek fillers”, have the ability to achieve a natural-looking, sculpted, more youthful look.

Younger patients in their early 20s and 30s seek out cheek fillers as a way to enhance the appearance of their face. When cheek fillers are injected, the mid-face is lifted and the cheekbones appear more prominent. Because cheek fillers are highly customizable, those with thinner faces can get plumper cheeks, and those with rounder or plumper faces can target a more angular and sculpted look.

Types of FILLERS

The most common fillers for cheek augmentation are hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvéderm Voluma and Restylane Lyft. This type of filler formula is based on hyaluronic acid, a sugar molecule that occurs naturally in our bodies. This acid is responsible for ensuring our skin stays hydrated and supple. The hyaluronic acid in the fillers used for cheek enhancement lifts, fills, and plumps the cheeks to give a perfect contour.

This filler is the first and only FDA-approved injectable gel to instantly add volume to the cheek area. With optimal treatment, Voluma can provide contour and a subtle lift for up to two years. Juvéderm Voluma has a smooth consistency gel designed to provide volume and support to the skin, and is especially effective for smile lines.

Made of poly-L-lactic acid, Sculptra is another filler option that can be an excellent choice for cheek augmentation. Sculptra offers results that can last for up to two years. This treatment provides a natural look, smooths away wrinkles, and provides volume in the cheeks. It doesn’t create instant results, but it continually produces more collagen, which adds volume over a period of months.

CHEEK FILLER TREATMENT DETAILS

The initial step for having cheek fillers done is a consultation at Skincare Aesthetics of Baton Rouge with our specialists. During the consultation, we will give you a detailed explanation of the treatment and go over your options. We will also decide which filler you want to use.

The treatment itself is quick and relatively painless. During the appointment, you’ll recline as the filler is injected into the specific, targeted areas of your face. The pain is minimal, but if you prefer a topical anesthetic, we will provide one. The injection process lasts about 20 minutes.

After the injections, depending on which filler you used you may be able to see results immediately. Each filler will take some time to settle into position on your face, and some fillers (such as Sculptra) take a longer period of time for the full results to appear.

There is no downtime after cheek fillers, and you can get right back to your normal life and usual activities after treatment. Minor bruising, redness, and swelling can be expected, and you may also feel some lumpiness. This will resolve within a week.

During the first few days, you should avoid sleeping on your cheeks. Try to sleep facing up, flat on your back. You may also want to avoid strenuous exercise until the filler has completely taken its shape (48 hours after the procedure).
