Your Initial Consultation

Your consultation with Dr. Stephens is a thorough, one-on-one conversation about your concerns, goals, and candidacy for surgery. He will evaluate your facial anatomy, discuss your options honestly, and only recommend a path forward that he's confident will deliver excellent results. There is a $100 consultation fee, which reflects the personalized time and surgical expertise Dr. Stephens brings to every appointment.

After Your Facelift

Dr. Stephens personally calls every surgical patient the evening of their procedure to check in on their comfort and answer any questions. His patients also have direct access to him throughout the recovery process. This level of aftercare is a cornerstone of how this practice operates. The relationship doesn't end when you leave the operating room.

What to Expect During Facelift Recovery

Understanding your recovery is just as important as understanding the procedure itself. A facelift is a surgical investment, and knowing what lies ahead helps you plan confidently and heal well.

The Procedure

Understanding your recovery is just as important as understanding the procedure itself. A facelift is a surgical investment, and knowing what lies ahead helps you plan confidently and heal well.

Week One

In the first few days following surgery, you can expect some swelling, bruising, and tightness around the face and neck. Most patients feel comfortable resting at home during this time. Bandages and any drains, if used, are typically removed within the first day or two at a follow-up appointment. By the end of the first week, many patients feel well enough to move around the house with ease, and sutures are generally removed around this time as well.

Week Two-Three

Most patients are comfortable being seen in public, albeit with some residual swelling, by weeks two to three.

Week Four

Strenuous activity should be avoided for at least three to four weeks, and full results continue to refine over the following months as swelling fully resolves.

Three Months

The final outcome is typically visible around the three-month mark, with results that can last a decade or longer.

Throughout your recovery, Dr. Stephens remains personally available. He calls every surgical patient the evening of their procedure, and his team maintains close contact during the healing process. If you have questions at any hour, you'll never be left waiting for answers.

What Is a Liquid Facelift?

A Nonsurgical Alternative

As a nonsurgical procedure, patients can undergo a liquid facelift without having to worry about scars. Areas such as the jowls, mid-face, nasolabial folds, and temples can all be sculpted, giving the face an overall enhanced shape and structure. However, it should be noted that the results from a liquid facelift are not permanent.

Combining Injectables

While no two liquid facelift procedures are ever the same, they usually involve some combination of dermal fillers. Some of these include Sculptra®, Restylane®, and JUVÉDERM®. In many cases, these fillers are combined with a neuromodulator such as BOTOX® Cosmetic, which can prevent new wrinkles from forming.

Immediate Results

When used together, these products can achieve some outstanding results in the face, reducing the appearance of fine lines and creating changes that are similar to a traditional facelift. Most exciting of all, the results of a liquid facelift can be seen immediately, making it the ideal option for patients seeking quick results.

Facelifts Achieve
Life-Changing Benefits

A facelift is a popular cosmetic procedure because it provides a dramatically younger and more sculpted facial appearance that boosts self-esteem. Further benefits include:

  • Eliminates loose skin
  • Achieves a youthful lift for sagging facial features
  • Resolves jowls or a double chin
  • Reverses many signs of aging in one surgical procedure
  • Turns back the clock as much as 10 years
  • Smooths away wrinkles and creases
  • Sculpts the contours of the face

Who Is a Candidate for a Facelift?

Dr. Stephens examining a patient

During your consultation with Dr. Stephens, he will evaluate your areas of concern and go over your aesthetic goals. He will then be able to tell you if a facelift is right for you. If so, he may recommend other procedures to enhance your facelift. If you’re considering a facelift in Baton Rouge, you may be an excellent candidate if:

  • You want to improve signs of aging on the face.
  • Your face has begun to sag due to the natural aging process, but your skin still has some elasticity.
  • You're generally healthy and do not smoke.
  • You have realistic expectations for what a facelift can accomplish.
  • You're considering a facelift for personal reasons, not because someone else is pressuring you to get one.

Facelift FAQ

What type of anesthesia is used?

A facelift is generally performed with IV sedation or general anesthesia to ensure you experience no pain during your procedure.

How long will results last?

The results of a full facelift may last up to 10 years or even longer, depending on your skincare routine and lifestyle.

How long is a facelift surgery?

A facelift generally takes between three and six hours. If you are having other procedures at the same time, such as a fat transfer, it may take longer.

Will there be scars?

Facelift scars are minimal, carefully hidden in the natural folds of your skin around your ears. Some patients may require an additional incision at the chin, which will also be precisely made to minimize scarring.

Which other procedures complement a facelift?

While facelift surgery can provide significant rejuvenation, it is often complemented by other procedures to achieve comprehensive facial enhancement. Such procedures can include brow lift, neck lift, and eyelid surgery.
