RESTYLANE® TREATMENTS
If you want to smooth away facial lines and wrinkles, enhance your lips, or add volume to your cheeks, Restylane is a top performer that can create dramatic improvements in your look.
WHAT IS RESTYLANE®?
The Restylane product line is a family of injectable fillers. Restylane offers a variety of formulas that target different problem areas for our Baton Rouge patients, providing fast results and short recovery time. Restylane itself is a clear, synthetic gel that is carefully injected into the targeted areas of the face, neck, and in some cases, the hands. It’s designed to smooth wrinkles, plump and sculpt lips, and shape facial contours — resulting in a more supple, smooth, and youthful face.
WHO IS A CANDIDATE FOR RESTYLANE®?
In essence, the Restylane formulas combine hyaluronic acid with a small amount of lidocaine, which is commonly used as a numbing agent. This eases the muscles in the face that are contracted, causing deep lines and wrinkles to smooth away while the hyaluronic acid helps to lift, smooth, and renew the supple, youthful beauty of your face. The ideal candidates for Restylane in Baton Rouge are those who want to rejuvenate and regain their youthful appearance and who fit the following criteria:
Are over the age of 21
Are not pregnant or breastfeeding
Are not allergic to lidocaine
Do not have any type of bleeding disorder
Do not have an active skin infection (rashes, pimples, hives, cysts)
Are in general good health
Have realistic expectations for what Restylane can do
WHAT IS HYALURONIC ACID?
Restylane fillers are made from formulas based on hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a sugar molecule that occurs naturally in our bodies. This acid is responsible for ensuring our skin stays hydrated and supple.
As we age, the subsequent loss of hyaluronic acid eventually affects the skin, leading to wrinkles, fine lines, and loss of volume in the lips and cheeks or other areas of the face and neck. Fillers like Restylane replace this lost hyaluronic acid.
RESTYLANE® TREATMENT DETAILS
During your consultation with our specialists at Skincare Aesthetics of Baton Rouge, we will give you a detailed explanation of the Restylane injections, going over your options and treatment plan. Our goal is to listen to each patient and discuss a treatment plan that is individualized for each person. The procedure itself is quick and relatively painless. The injections are given into and under the facial skin. An ultra-fine needle or cannula will be used, which minimizes discomfort.
We are one of the few clinics in Baton Rouge that offers the use of a cannula for multiple injection areas. The cannula is a blunt-tipped, hollow tube that improves safety, reduces the likelihood of complications and trauma to the tissues, and minimize discomfort and downtime. You will feel a minor stinging sensation which most patients find very tolerable. We provide numbing cream if you prefer, but Restylane also contains lidocaine for added numbing. Treatment time is short, generally about 15-30 minutes.
WHAT RESULTS TO EXPECT
Fillers always look their best after settling into the area (usually after about two weeks), but you’ll be able to see immediate results. Follow-up visits are encouraged to allow for optimal reassessment once bruising and swelling have subsided.
Restylane results are quite long-lasting due to the formula’s unique ability to bind with water, which allows it to remain in your skin for many months. The length of time Restylane results remain effective may vary from patient to patient, but they generally last for 6-12 months. Touch-up treatments are encouraged every 4-9 months thereafter to maintain results.
AFTER YOUR RESTYLANE® TREATMENT
There is no downtime after Restylane. Once the treatment is complete, you can get right back to your life. We recommend avoiding alcohol, exercise, heat, and sun exposure for 24 hours after treatment to help aid recovery. Restylane carries little risk of allergic reaction. You may experience some slight redness, swelling, bruising, and/or tenderness in the treated area for up to one week. In rare cases, some bruising and swelling can last up to two weeks.
During your consultation, we will go over specific post-treatment direction and recommendations during your consultation in order to best minimize any side effects.
